New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
Hi guys I have had the Ragnorak/Yddrasil for about 4 months now and just wanted to give my thoughts and comparisons to my Audio-gd NFB-7 and Master-6 combination that I have had for a few years. Even though the Yggy was ordered first the Ragnorak arrived first and was connected via balanced...- nigeljames

New Audio-gd DAC-19 [10th Anniversary Edition]
Good Sabre32 implementations don't need 'taming' and Audio-gd don't do bright or harsh sounding gear. Unless you have a particular likeness for the R2R 1704 chip you will find that the NFB-7 would be an significant improvement over the DAC-19 which is exactly what it is meant to be given...- nigeljames

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
To be fair no headphone amp will cost anywhere near the price of a TOTL speaker amp and no TOTL speaker amp is going to have the versatility with different headphones a headphone amp will.- nigeljames

Audeze LCD-X
"Don’t let the naysayer force you out of this thread. They are showing up EVERYWERE and think that they have the correct answer and the right to preach it, often without even testing/hearing the gear we are talking about (role nr1). Some of them don’t believe in SQ difference in DACs others in...- nigeljames

Audio-GD Master 9
I don't have the Master-9 but do use the Master-6 with the HD800's and LCD2.2's and it is anything but lackluster. I find it a very exciting, energetic and engaging especially with the HD800's. I certainly would not expect the M9 to be any different.- nigeljames

Review: Audio-gd NFB-7
Really!! Have not heard the Master-7 but my NFB-7 has eye blinking impact when required (far more than any PCM1704 DAC I have ever heard). I certainly would not want any more impact and that is saying something from a rock/metal fan.- nigeljames

Wa22 or Liquid Glass and DAC
The Woo22 is generally too tubey for me, would need a lot of tube rolling for my tastes, have not heard the liquid glass but don't think it would be as tubey sounding from what I have read. Have you thought about the Little Dot MK6+. Very powerful balanced tube amp that according to...- nigeljames

Wa22 or Liquid Glass and DAC
Yes but there are people on this site who dispute that. I am no EE but there was a thread on this matter (http://www.head-fi.org/t/634551/woo-wa22-balanced-vs-unbalanced-input) that disputes that. Just thought you should know. I don't know either way, like I said I am no EE.- nigeljames

The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread
I have not heard the Master-7 but I have been told that it sounds very different from the Ref series (actually more Sabre like) so you might be right. However if I was to get a R2R DAC I am pretty certain it won't be a PCM1704 version. Heard enough of them to know they are not to my taste.- nigeljames

The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread
Well that is the first time I have heard anyone say that about Audio-gd PCM1704 DAC's. Also the Naim CD player I heard cost around £10000. I know it's a Naim so it has an inflated price but still should be a decent product.- nigeljames

The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread
Sorry can't agree with that. Sabre & R2R both have their advantages and disadvantages. One can be preferred but personal tastes differ. I have heard expensive Naim R2R DAC's/players as well as Audio-gd 7.1 and 5.32 and none have persuaded me to part with my NFB-7. The Audio-gd in...- nigeljames

The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread
My HD800's sound fantastic with my Sabre32 DAC, nautral SS amp and all silver and silver/gold cables. Also can't agree that Audio-gd Sabre DAC's sound bright. They have always been voiced to be neutral. But if you consider the PCM1704 chipped DAC's to be neutral and not dark then Sabre32...- nigeljames

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
Taken straight from the Audio-gd/master-9 web page. edit; noticed that there seems to be another version of the text where the 'pull off the jumpers' line is replaced by custom order information. I must of viewed an old Master-9 page.- nigeljames
