I might just have to send them into Grado. Hopefully they won't be too expensive. 

The two plates are isolated, I confirmed that with a multimeter. That crud in between is an insulator by the looks of it.

Hello All,   I was re-soldering the wires for my headphones and now one of the speakers does not work. I have tested the continuity for the wires, but the speaker seems to have failed. I was wondering if there was anyway to pry the actual speaker from the housing to see if I possibly messed up...
