I would replace the stock headunit with an aftermarket headunit with an aux in. Easiest thing to do. Will sound decent. If you want to delete your ex. Headunit entirely you will need an amp. I would use a 4 channel to best power all your speakers, but with an amp you will need an installation...

When do they pop? Is it a one time thing or continuos. They may be picking up interference from somewhere. Have you tried the phones at another location besides work?

I was just thinking the same thing. The last one was in May(?) of last year. I haven't upgraded myself, but always like listening to what else is out there. I would be up for another one.
