The iGrados need some minor modification by the user before they sound pleasant to me.

My roommate recently bought and returned a set of Beats. He liked the "live" sound but $300 was too much for what you got. So, is there anything out there for $200 or less that sounds similar? Doesn't have to be noise canceling, just comfortable with equally bright highs and equally powerful...

My roommate bought these tonight. They're terribly harsh and make listening to music feel like hard work. Bass is nice but mids sound like they're trapped in a box. Highs are present but unpleasant.

I'm going to start using 'OEM' for ear buds, just to be a pain.

I'm about to put an order in for a set of blue Koss Portapros. I got to sample them at Best Buy and am completely impressed by their comfort and rich sound. Are there any other headphones out there under $100 that have a distinctively 1980s look to them?

I'm actually listening to my Koss Pro-35s right now after leaving them on the shelf for 8 years. They still sound nice for how little they cost. Mine is the original iteration, Radio Shack brand with the tighter headband. I bought them in 2000.
