Looking for something that sounds like Dr Dre Beats
My roommate recently bought and returned a set of Beats. He liked the "live" sound but $300 was too much for what you got. So, is there anything out there for $200 or less that sounds similar? Doesn't have to be noise canceling, just comfortable with equally bright highs and equally powerful...- Jesda

Talk me out of The Beats By Dre.
My roommate bought these tonight. They're terribly harsh and make listening to music feel like hard work. Bass is nice but mids sound like they're trapped in a box. Highs are present but unpleasant.- Jesda

Other retro-styled headphones like Koss Portapros?
I'm about to put an order in for a set of blue Koss Portapros. I got to sample them at Best Buy and am completely impressed by their comfort and rich sound. Are there any other headphones out there under $100 that have a distinctively 1980s look to them?- Jesda

Klipsch Image X5 vs Klipsch Image S4
I bought a pair of X5s a few days ago and was disappointed. Bass is present but not that deep. Highs and mids seemed overwhelmed by all the bass. EQ was set to flat. Yes, they were better than the ear buds included with my Blackberry, but even at the clearance price of $99 I didn't think it...- Jesda

Budget Vinyl versus CD Comparison
I just bought Toto IV and Thriller on vinyl, a buck a piece, and am completely blown away by the sound. My listening isn't quite refined enough to explain in detail what the differences are, but I can listen to the LPs for an entire evening without any fatigue. With digital versions (CD and high...- Jesda

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I just picked up one of these today for $20. Works and sounds great! Hood is still attached, sounds clean. Has a Shure cartridge and needle in good working order. Jitterbug.- Jesda

Koss Pro 35 - Senn. PX 100 - No difference
I'm actually listening to my Koss Pro-35s right now after leaving them on the shelf for 8 years. They still sound nice for how little they cost. Mine is the original iteration, Radio Shack brand with the tighter headband. I bought them in 2000.- Jesda

Seeking earbuds, need COMFORT
Been a while since I've posted. Once I found my Grados there was little else to discuss. I just got an iPod 30GB and I must say, these crap-sounding Apple earphones are the most comfortable pair I've ever used. I suspect it has something to do with their small size (I have small ears) and...- Jesda

SR40?
I suggest calling Best Sound in St Louis MO (located on Lindbergh). Ask for a guy by the name of Jason Kennedy. I bought mine there a while ago and LOVE them. Not overly bright, plenty of CLEAN bass, extremely comfortable, very durable, and one heck of a value! Im sure they have a few left.- Jesda

Got Chaintech and Foobar finally, nothing changed. Am I crazy?
The SR40s made a tremendous improvement (only after getting an old Pioneer amp) but the Chaintech card made no difference at all. I went through all the setup guides over and over, tried different driver versions, installed Foobar, set every setting properly (oh yes, I'm very sure), and other...- Jesda

Chaintech 710, Needs amp or not?
I know with home and car audio you can get a click. With headphones you sometimes get a distorted, weak sound. Theres a very apparent lack of lows and mids, and the highs are tinny and feel forced.- Jesda
