500+ Head-Fier
Pros: Bass is incredible, mind-altering, and amazing.
Build quality is fantastic.
Mids are fantastic
Shell and cable 2-pin connector is best in class.
Cons: Price is prohibitive
Different modules to tune annoy me in any form.
2-4k region isn’t to my liking.

500+ Head-Fier
Pros: NICEHCK DB2

● Somehow it has a decently solid construction of its shell chassis and is sort of lightweight.
● Available in three (3) colour options.
● Three (3) choices of ear tips to choose from according to our fitting preferences and possible improvement of certain sonic output.
● Stock cable appears to be decent and quite supple.
● Easy to drive
● Seems fairly good on some female vocals.
● Can be perceive as a clean bass
● Sounds pleasant on woodwinds.
● Smooth and balanced treble response.
● Overall, it has a smooth and transparent sound. Sibilance is kept under control.
● Somehow it has good separation and layering

NICEHCK CYAN CABLE

● Durable and well-constructed as it exudes a high quality one.
● Tightly braided and twisted strands for better transmission.
● Sheathed nylon fabric for added protection and entangle-resistant.
● Moderately textured cable that makes it more pliable.
● Solidly-built metal parts on plug shield, splitter, chin slider and receptacle shield.
Cons: NICEHCK DB2

● A steep V-shaped sound profile.
● Midbass appears to be less textured as it delivers less punchy bass response.
● Recessed and lean midrange presentation
● Hollow sounding male vocals.
● Not for contralto vocals as they sound a bit scant on note texture.
● Less natural and less engaging sounding on instruments particularly brass and percussives.
● Less airy treble response.
● Perceived sound/speaker appears to be on average size.

NICEHCK CYAN CABLE

● Wondering if this thing would have a modular feature, a detachable termination plug would be a better choice on this one.

New Head-Fier
Pros: 1. The price of $25-29 is fantastic

2. Heaps of power for running most iems and even some headphones.

3. The cable is braided

4. The overall tone and tonality is very good

5. Probably the best budget dongle DAC
Cons: 1. I had issues with Max volume which fixed itself (although this happened only with me, and not with others)

2. The latest version of app removed the volume control (As of this review)

1000+ Head-Fier
Pros: Classic sound produced by a Dual DAC CS43131, but with extra spatiality, volume, weight, density and separation.
- Gain control.
- Quality accessory cables.
- Very robust construction.
- Muse Space Ship, exclusive DSD auto-recognition mode, Virtual Surround mode, adaptive auto-recognition mode for games or music.
- Good power level.
- Very low output impedance.
- Does not modify the frequency response of the headphones.
Cons: Auto-detection makes the different playback modes not very apparent in sound.
- Unfortunate flaw in the volume control: it crashes and goes up to the maximum without being able to remedy it, connected to my Windows 10 PC.
- The weight is heavy.
- Not the best value for money.
- Fingerprint magnet.

-Just beautiful, the design is absolutely stunning
-The fit is one of the best I’ve ever put into my ears
-Very well-balanced sound
-Bass region has good impact and timbre for a BA set
-The midrange is for vocal lovers
-The treble is musical without leaving out the details
-Non-fatiguing treble and non-offensive sound altogether
-Imaging is fantastic
Cons: -Not a DD bass region
-Not for bassheads
-Some may want more dynamism
-Treble isn’t the most airy or brilliant, not for treble heads
-Stage width is only average
-Slight suction effect (it doesn’t bother me)

One day some high-end manufacturer will produce something amazing with great sound, comfort, useability, good battery life, and modular (incl. replaceable batteries). I can't wait for that day and would happily pay > 2k for something nice. After all you can throw out your high-end cable(s), DAC, and amp.

One of the nicest review I've read, Bravo! Your HP and amp stable is unbelievable. I also have the WA8 and original Empyrean, I never realized my real impression on this duo but you clearly put out words that define it quite good. I mostly use the Empyrean with my Unison SH desktop tube amp and Orchid tube DAC, love the sound it produces.

I think you just sold me on the Atrium closed with this review. I've been thinking about closed HP for a while and these may well be the best complement to my Empyrean while maintaining a similar sound signature I love, smooth and refined.

AcousticMatt
@Loftprojection Hey, thanks! Glad you enjoyed the review and, indeed, I'm very grateful to have the headphones and amps I have. Interesting you found the same thing with the Empyrean/WA8 combo. The Empyrean is so good on so many things and the WA8 is so great with so many other headphones, so I'm still not sure why they're not quite a good fit for each other. I'll have to try the Unison and Orchid tube DAC sometime. I sold my iFi DAC recently and am looking at getting a tube DAC - the Linear Tube Audio Aero has piqued my interest for sure.

And oh yeah, if you get the Atrium Closed, I don't think you'll be disappointed. It's pretty awesome. I have two and may sell one at some point if you'd be interested.

Headphoneus Supremus
Pros: A wildly addictive treble presentation which proclaims a different character from normal DD outputs
As such we find finite small illustrations of treble artifacts separated into the stage, all with great timbre
Technical chops and fun times to be had for a joyful admission price, the true meaning of Chinese value here
Pure titanium build
Advanced semi-custom form factor, almost all the 12 grams (each) of weight inside the ear
Silver plated OFC NiceHCK 3-in-1 modular cable with ear-hooks
Superlative box opening experience worthy of a true flagship model

Three wildly different nozzles that screw on
1) Gold Balanced
2) Grey shorter and treble centric
3) Blue added Bass nozzle with a narrow port

Very, very well rounded playing all music genres, and seemingly balanced off every source
Cons: Some folks don't want to deal with nozzle changes
Some are against 3-in-1 modular cables
The 12 grams weight could be an issue for those running or involved with outdoor sports
