Should I be doing this?

Or is it ok to do this?

I shouldn't go through the Zero HP out because then it will be double amped, right? Should I go through the RCA to mini, plug that into the Heed, and plug the K701 into the Heed? But then I lose my dual output capability... (to the Swans via RCA)

Sound card - Zero (rca) - Heed - K701

You can still utilize the headphone out on the zero with this config, just toggle the headphone button.

I would not recommend connecting the heaphone out of the Zero to the Heed, cause you would be double amping and could damage your Heed if you're not careful.
