Of course there's a way . If you want a stereo signal though the modulation is pretty complex. There are circuits out there, but they definitely won't be portable and most of the ones I've seen have opamps in them anyway. You'd definitely be better off with a simple IC and maybe a small amp after it. If all you want is mono, consult the Oracle; I was able to come up with half a dozen circuits from a quick search.

i see what u mean by stereo modulation being a little more complex-- at first i looked at the mono version ecstatically... but then i scrolled down some more and said to myself "awp."
but even the stereo one isn't that bad...
