This came out of nowhere and smacked me on the ass today.

I only have MP3s so far, but I am absolutely determined to acquire all of their music.

Here's their website.

Now what do they sound like, you ask? Well...

Let me first say this: if you like electronic music, you will love Xploding Plastix. If you like jazz, you will love Xploding Plastix. If you like music, you will love Xploding Plastix.

I guess they're an electronica band with a jazzy edge. However, there are lots of bands like this (Amon Tobin, DJ Food, Squarepusher, and ****-tons more who are mostly forgettable) but these 2 Norwegians pull it off better than anyone else I've heard. It doesn't sound like electronica and it doesn't sound like jazz but they're both there and everything melts together like... like... peanut butter & chocolate. Man, seriously.

Turns out these guys just got signed to Sony Norway... which makes sense, and will hopefully be a blessing, not a curse. If Sony decides to promote them properly and spread the word, these guys could easily have a massive fanbase. Except unlike most "mass-market" electronic acts these days, their fanbase will be varied, since the music crosses so many boundaries.

Of course, it could be a curse, since innovative, brilliant bands so often seem to languish in obscurity when signed to an enormous label that doesn't know what to do with them.

Anyway, my point is, check this band out. Highly, highly recommended.
