Hi there

I was wondering if someone could take the time to help me get to the bottom of my problem?
I am running the following
XP
Foobar2000 v1.1.2
ASIO4ALL v 2.10

Now im pretty sure i have setup ASIO4ALL correctly, i get the green arrow in the sys tray and when i open the ASIO4ALL config window and select "Resample to 48khz" the next time i load a song, i see the light change on my DAC so im sure its being used.

But when i drag the volume slider on foobar2000 the volume increases / decreases?

I thought a correctly configured ASIO4ALL would prevent volume control via Foobar2000?

The rest of the equipment being used is in my sig

Really hope someone can help, cheers

Hi!

You can still use the volume control in Foobar because it's before ASIO has anything to do with it. Foobar> ASIO> Hardware would be a simplified way of looking at it. Your signal won't be bit perfect any more when decreasing the volume in Foobar for as far as I know. (I think it decreases the bit depth to do so) Whether decreasing the volume with Foobar is better or worse than using an analogue knob is something I don't really know. It has been discussed somewhere on the Hydrogen Audio forums, but I don't know what the conclusion of it was or if there was a conclusion at all.

Changes are good you did set up ASIO4all correctly though.

Thanks for the replys guys, i've used ASIO4ALL for years and always lived with little dropouts every so often and just realised the volume thing when changing skins last week.

I bought USB-ASIO last night after installing it as a demo, it might be Placebo but i loved the sound and it has cured my dropouts so i bought a licence.

Very happy with it :-)

Thanks again for the help
