I cannot seem to get my microphone working. I have it hooked up to the Line Out / Microphone out (next to headphone) and it shows up in my audio devices, I just think either its not working or its just not loud enough.

With a xonar essence stx?

I posted on Asus forums and no reply yet, those forums suck.

Could it be that I had to get a 3.5mm to 1/4" jack for my mic and maybe my mic cant handle it? Is there some setting in the Xonar Control Center? Do I just need a new/better mic?

Well, my headset is Koss SB45, so I don't think it's your mic's fault as long as your mic works.

And yes I have Essence STX too.

I had to get second 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapter aswell for my mic to connect it to Essence STX.
As I got to store I noticed there was mono and stereo adapters.
I wasn't sure if mono adapter would work so I played safe and chose the stereo.
Maybe this is the problem? Although it won't make sense...

Let me boot in win7 and check the control panel settings there.

Edit:
Just came up: have you downloaded right drivers from ASUS' website? I think there was different drivers for 32bit and 64bit versions... need to verify this.
Edit2:
Nope I was wrong, seems that 32 or 64-bit drivers are exactly same.

Played around in Win7 control panel and made sure my mic works properly...

All I can say to you:
Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Speech Recognition. There click on Set up microphone. Select your microphone type and continue by clicking Next.
From there on you should be able to figure out why isn't it working.

Also check from device manager that all Devices work properly.
Alt+double click on My computer, then select device manager.
