Let me start off by saying I had x-fi extrememusic and bought this a few days ago to replace it.  I installed the unified custom drivers for it.  While the card makes the sound great (better than extrememusic from what I remember), the volume is way too low at 100%.  With extrememusic, I couldn't even go to 100%, or I'd kill my ears.  This really doesn't make sense since the DG has a amp, while the x-fi doesn't.  The main reason I bought this card is because my realtek audio onboard was too low as well. Also, my mixer volumes are all at 100% and my "Xonar DG Audio Center" is at 100%. So, what could be the problem?

I believe you need to goto in the xonar dg control panel and select headphones. 
 
Click the little hammer to the right and select the bottom option its like >60ohm
