I just loaded my 64gb card with music and later discovered I am one firmware upgrade behind on my new X3. I upgraded to that version with the same  card when it was blank.

Perhaps somebody can tell me if, to do an upgrade, I can now.

1) Put the firmware on the card with the music to do the upgrade, then remove it when the upgrade is complete. Will it be seen by the X3 if there is already music on the card?

or

2) Can I buy a cheapo small capacity card, not necessarily high speed, and keep it around for firmware upgrades only? Is the X3 likely to recognize this kind of card (reformatted to FAT32 of course)?

I just want to avoid removing my music files and reloading if possible.

Thanks.

There are several threads on Head-fi dedicated to the Fiio X3,
you might try posting your X3 questions there.
Might find a few "Fiio X3 Know It All" on those threads.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually answered my own question by buying a cheap basic Verbatim 8 mb card on sale for a few bucks and using it to load the latest firmware today. Works fine for firmware, if anybody is interested. I just keep my music on the Sandisk 64 xd card, which also works fine for me when formatted properly.
