A while ago I built a Meier crossfeed filter which sounded thin and a bit muted. One of you spotted an error 47uF cap instead of 47nF, I changed the component but couldn't hear any differences. A week ago I decided to listen to the filter again, and it worked perfectly!?! No mute and good bass.

So, today I just finished a Mint inspired amp with the x-feed on the board. I am pretty sure it's correctly wired, and the values are correct this time!

But, the x-feed out sounds thin and muted here again. I let it play for half an hour, and suddenly heard a hump in the volume, the volume got a little higher, but the sound is still thin.

Am I experiencing a well known phenomenon here, or what?

Crap, placed the x-feed on the output, not the input... Hmm, more etching for me it seems!

Still, there was a hump, and my old x-feed suddenly started to work. Burn-in?

No burn in required but make sure you're putting it together correctly, there shouldn't be any thinness to the sound.
