Finally, have been dying to try out my SACDs. I finally just received the DVP-NS500V from Voodoochile. Came in excellent working condition and very well packed.
Tested out a number of SACDs and found that the SACD high res layer contains a much warmer less steely tone when compared to the redbook layer.
Surprisingly though, I didn't seem to hear more details from the SACD layer as compared to the redbook layer. Maybe I need to listen better but I didn't get more details. I tested mainly Chesky SACDs as well as Hyperion SACDs.
My hookup is DVP-NS500V -> PA2V2 -> DT880. I know...I gotta do something about the amp...but just curious, can low end amps cause the headphones to loose out on details? If I were to change my amp to say a Corda HA2 MkI make a huge difference?
Help guys?
