I am building my first Cmoy and I have a question about wire to use. I have tons of audio cables that goes from a motherboard to a CD or DVD player in a computer.

Can I use the wire from these as my wire for the power and LED and switches and jacks etc? I assume it should be just fine and it seems about the right size to use.

I also have some old mother boards with lots of large capacitors are these worth saving?

Thanks

Yes, using those old wires are fine to use. You might consider using higher quality teflon insulated wires for your later projects. IMO saving used electrolytic capacitors are not worth it from both the reliability and efficiency factor.

The capacitors used by most commercial products other than audiophile type products are either heavy duty or cheap types you wouldn't want to use for audio applications. IMO its worthwhile to invest in some low-esr premium capacitors when you put together an amp.
