"VST Host DSP v.1.0" for Winamp can be downloaded from "Developer's" site.

ADDED: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DirectX Host DSP's for WinAmp:
Adapt-X (shareware) - http://www.chronotron.com/content.ph...roducts#adaptx
FFX-4 (freeware) - http://perso.wanadoo.fr/vb-audio/us/...ack/dxrack.htm !! can be chained if you install the 'original' FFX-4 also

END_ADD -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are "some" usable (freeware) VST plugins to be used with Winamp + VST Host DSP:

Some quick picks from KVR ------------------------------------------------------------:

EQ's:
slim slow slider's Linear Phase Graphic EQ (61-band) - http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1127.html EDIT: not very good EQ
WWAYM's NWEQ parametric equalizer - http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1636.html (2nd DL link)
A0 Parametric Equalizer - http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1965.html

Other:
Acousmodules AutoSpectre 246 - http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1582.html
(more plugins from Acousmodules - http://acousmodules.free.fr/the_plugins.htm

Search results for FREEWARE VST effect plugins (from KVR):

Analyser/Monitor -plugins

Dynamics (Compressor/Limiter) -plugins

EQ -plugins:

Exciter/Enhancer -plugins:

Filter -plugins:

Imaging/Panning/Spatial -plugins:

Mastering -plugins:

Multi FX -plugins:

Some links for other Freeware/Demo/Trial/Commercial -versions --------------------------------------------:

http://www.voxengo.com/products/
http://www.sadglad.com/freevstplugins6.html
http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/win95/PLUGINS_VST/

NOTE: Not all of these VST plugins, found behind links above, are suitable to be used with audio playback (most are intend to be used on music production), but some of them are quite good (even pro.) replacements for original "Winamp -plugins".

NOTE: Remember, when you install VST -plugin(s) they are defaulted to be installed into \Program Files\Steinberg\ -folder.

ADDED
NOTE: You can use multiple plugins simultaenously if you load a VST Rack/Chainer into VST Host DSP. There are some Racks/Chainers available like these:

XLUTOP Chainer (commercial, demo available)
CTAF MultiFXVST (freeware)

More listed @ KVR.

As an example (Winamp + XLUTOP Chainer):

winampxlutop3il.jpg

+ Voxengo Transmodder (transient modification system)
+ Nomand Factory BT Stereo Imager
+ Nomand Factory E-Tube Tape Warmer
+ URS A10 Series EQ (iLok needed for demos too)

thanks for the tips on locating the hum frequency and constructing a custom hum remover. actually, i am not even sure if its affecting my listening as I really cant notice it unless I try to hear it or crank the volume up all the way (obviuosly, without anything play or my eardrums would be history)

Just wanted to point out that this should work just as well for foobar with the winamp DSP plugin, seeing how all other DSP plugins work just fine using that plugin AFAIK.

Refuses to load into Foobar2k 0.8.3.
Is there some special method to load Winamp plugins into Foobar?

I am not sure how you would have tried to load it without the bridge plugin, and in case you are already using it and that didnt do the trick, sorry about your trouble

Thanks. It seems to work well (through another bridge plugin).

EDIT: nevermind my original question if you saw it...

Do I need to worry about this working with the newest Winamp version?

Thanks in advance.

If you want to use VST/DX plugins w/ Foobar --> this host must be installed and loaded into Foobar.

Worry? Do you mean, if Winamp supports natively or is it compatible ... ? No, Winamp does not have native support for VST/DX and the WinAmp plugin(s) has been compatible quite long period ...

If you meant Foobar 0.9, --> I do not know if every 3rd party plugin are working on v.0.9 like used to work with v. 0,8.x (like ASIO don't work) , but I think, Foobar does not support VST/DX natively.
