Why not just connect the FiiO X3's line-output (analog) to the home theater?

I believe the FiiO X3 can only output 2-channel of audio, no matter which output you use (digital or analog).
But your receiver should have an "Expanded Stereo" setting, using Dolby Pro Logic, to take the 2-channels of audio and expand it to 5 speakers.
So connect the X3 to the receiver using analog audio cable (3.5mm stereo to RCA) and use Dolby to expand the 2-channel sound to 5-channels (5-speakers).
