Yes it works.Im sure that other amps can give it more juice and give a better sound, but it indeed works

Know any amps under 500 bucks that will power it neutrally, like solid state amps? I'm not sure I'm even convinced about the ability of an amplifier to produce a better sound if it gives it enough power and has a good dac. I can literally head the difference of the sound from my ****ty laptop's built in sound card between plugging my dac into it, but I don't know about amplifiers.

The LCD-2 isnt nearly as difficult to push as the Hifiman planars like the 500 or he6...I use a vintage receiver headphone out to drive mine.

I would ask over in the LCD-2 thread for dedicated amp suggestions...

you'll prolly get tons of Schiit recommends

LCD-2 owner here. For SS I've had a lot of success with Burson (HA-160) and Schiit (Asgard2, Jotunheim) amps so far pushing them with ample power to spare and great sound. The Jotunheim w/ the built in DAC is right at 500 and gives you a lot of flexibility. That said a Magni / Modi would be more than sufficient as a starting place if you wanted to start small - they'll push them easily.
