I want a sound card to upgrade from my integrated audio. Which is okay for me, but I'm probably getting Logitech Z560's soon and want a good 4.1/5.1 card for it. I wanted the AV-710, but I noticed a lack of a gameport. Is there something like the AV-710 but w/a gameport?

Something around the AV710's $$$ would be nice. BTW: I only have 1 pci left, no isa or pci-x.

One of my friends have a collection of old joysticks. We discovered that some of them work ok with a cheap universal USB gameport convertor.

Some of the fancier joysticks need a special custom USB adapter, built with the proper logic to decode the input. Some of these custom adapters are expensive and cost more than the joystick itself.

Try searching the web for various convertor or adapter solutions. If you can, I recommend buying a new USB joystick because the adapters do no guarantee good performance.

Actually, I have a Logitech Wireless Rumblepad USB. I was just wondering if I could get one with a gameport, because me friends sometimes bring their gamepads over and their's arent usb...

SB Live! and Audigy are big no's for obvious reasons... Since I'm only using 4.1... Are there any sound cards like this http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp...IGY-LS&cat=SND but not Audigy?

BTW: My past gamepad was a 10 dollar 4 button gamepad. Great for long gaming though!

Can't you use the gameport on your integrated audio card and just get whatever sound card you want without a gameport?
(Maybe I'm not getting this.)

I think this thread is a fine example of either having your cake or eating it to. I guess there really isn't many audiophile cards with a gameport. So if you want your fany joystick you might have to look else where. The 2 sound card install was a great idea though.

My M/B doesn't have a gameport.

Decent Sound Card wise...I'll just get the AV-710 or go up to an EMU card. Although I dont think the Z560 needs an EMU card, the AV-710 will do. I'll get it probably from compgeeks.com
