I have the 400 and the 400i.. im looking for a hp under 1000 that has the bass of the 400 annd the mid clarity of the 400i.. could this be the lcd2 fazor? Or which one would u suggest.

Hmmm you might like LCD 2 [Non Fazor] actually, as I found the bass on the LCD 2 Fazor to be a bit sluggish in comparison to my HE 4, though with the LCD 2 F you get better mids an treble
 
But yea I think the LCD 2 [F or non Fazor] would be a great upgrade for you. I found the mids on the LCD 2 to be really top notch! May I ask though what your driving your Hifimans with [amp/dac combo]

NO NO NO, keep your sterile cold amp, it will pair nice with the DARK WARM LCD 2 F, the X5 is also a touch warm out of it's Line out so it should pair nicely

Maybe look at Oppo PM-1 or PM-2.
 
Your amp is fine unless you specifically want to try something new.

Actually, I'm going to be Demoing the Oppo PM-2 in the Weeks to come, though I doubt you want to wait that long
 
Still though, I found the LCD 2 F to be very comfortable. I had no issues with it being "to heavy" you how ever might. Either the Oppo or the LCD 2 would work well I think, I can't comment with authority on the Oppo as I've not heard it.
