I know that Grado is a New York company and from NY but really where are they made, plus also in my headphone collection I've also got a pair of Grado's SR80 and would like to know where these are made. I know alot of country does outsourcing to China due to cheaper labour but would this mean they are made in China or NY. I cant seem to find anywhere on the box or even on the headphone itself where their made, part from saying Grado Labs New York etc etc.

I believe China

and just to forwarn you, about three hours there was a 5 page rant thread closed due to the intial poster (who joined just to post the thread) starting a rant about "the evils of chinese and taiwanese manufacture", so you might wanna take it light on this topic (I have no doubt you're simply curious, just letting you know where things stand on head-fi this morning)

dug this up for you:

Honestly I dont have any problem with a foreign own product being made in China and its got nothing to do with the country its made in but more so the quality control, as this is very important. I'ms sure there are headphones made in European countries or the US that also cause probs or breakdown and the same goes for the east eg China, Taiwan etc.

Also lets not forget China makes a very sweet CD Player the Shanling, so really stuff/audio made in China really couldnt be that bad could it.

It was more of a rhetorical question really.
