What would be the correct method for voltage adaptation? - Schiit Mjolnir USA to UK power (115v45w->230v)

Simple question, I hope. USA Uses 120v and UK/EU uses 230v, I may end up importing something from america for myself, but then I have to get around converting current. Is it just as simple as "get a generic adapter" or do I require a specific product?

A bit of specifics: I've bought a schiit Mjolnir original, which says it is 115VoltAC and 45W. This would need to go into my uk mains which is 230v.

I have found a few cheap adapters on amazon, but they have mixed reviews and are loud.

Yes, that is correct; you can plug it into your surge protector or wall outlet directly, then the Mjolnir into the step-up.

I've used them in the past and the Amazon ones get the job done, like this one

"Audiophile" grade step-up transformers (mostly for low output phono cartridges but we're talking a different kind here, mains voltage) would be big $$$ for little perceivable gain. Unfortunately, devices like step up transformers can introduce some mechanical ambient low-level noise or whine, but so many power-related parts can do this in the audio chain already anyway (switch mode power supplies, voltage regulators, etc.) With the headphones on, no way you'd be able to hear mechanical noise from the SMPS or transformer box.

That link doesn't work qlao I can't shop on us Amazon haha, I don't mind a quiet whine as some devices already do this but the whine on the examples on anon was loooooouuuud

Don't import stuff that doesn't work for 230V. Especially things that you don't know if you like. Resell value will be low. Such transformers are always noisy and loud. And a pain in the so called, to have around.

Already imported it No one would sell to me in the EU, don't mind a bit of noise, power supply on pc and a differentplug i have both have a light hiss/

Well, I guess you can always sell it back to someone in the US. 110V to 230V is "step up", that's what you need, there are also ones that can work both ways, step up and step down.

I think I'll just keep it, 7 sellers here in the EU have all cancelled on me last minute for no/arbitrary reasons and im ****ing sick of it.

Because, Schiit happens, and are a pain in the so called, to get around in the EU. How much did you pay for it? $50 bucks? How much is import VAT to get stuff from the US into the UK?

After import fees its less than the 400 euros I was offered for an EU version, with the transformer it works out to the same price. Difference being I can actually get this one instead of being screwed around for 2 months by people.
