I got a great deal on some precision resistors of unknown brand dose anyone have any idea of maby brand, or if thay are sonicly good. Thay are the size if RN-55 Metal films, Brown coating and marked with the value imprinted rather than a code. Example 220R 0.5%

OK, I'll take a guess. They sound like the metal film resistors we used to use in the Army. Mind you, I'm talking some 30 years ago!!

If you have one to spare, do a comparison test. Take a triangular file (everyone has one since Apheared suggested them in his 'tools' dissertation) and try to file a notch into it. If its carbon it will file easily. If its metal film it should be quite tough.

No clue on manufacturer though, although Allen Bradley USED to be a large military supplier.

Thanks, Thay are Metal Film from the File test, Non magnetic from the magnet test so i gess I try some since i got enought of these at a ham-feet to last quite awhile in values usable for solid state work.
