what does aux mean?

Hmm, Aux. typically stands for "auxilliary (sp)" or an open input. Normally used for inputting an additional source (like a phono stage). I cannot imagine why someone would recommend connecting speakers there, unless there is something that I am unaware of.

As JMT says this is pretty daft AUX is normally a line level input, of course if you shouted very loud into them and they were small speakers they might work as a microphone
