I've been using iTunes playing my cd's and mp3 files on my G4 Cube through MDR7506 cans. Is there a better program out there to use for cd's and mp3/lossless files on a mac? Just curious.
I prefer iTunes for all my music playback.
Tried most of the alternative players out there (VLC, Play, Cog, XMMS, etc.), but none of these are as feature rich and functional as iTunes. Imo that is...
I personally do not get why people bitch about itunes. I think it is one of the best applications out there. I have never looked for something else because I never felt the need.
Thanks guys. I was just asking because I didn't know if there was something new and better. I've tried those other apps too. iTunes works for me too. Thanks for those links ^

iTunes is fantastic on OS X, not so great on Windows. Since the majority use Windows they give it a bad name without trying it on OS X

I don't understand why people bitch about iTunes either.
But I suspect that most of those who raise their voice are MS Windows users, and that they either are spoiled or that iTunes on MS Windows is a totally different experience.
The Xiph.org QuickTime components are never up-to-date with all of the ongoing QT releases from Apple, and it honestly isn't worth the install. Basically, after years of holding out with FLAC despite my predominant Mac usage, I've decided to just transcode my whole lot of FLACs to Apple Lossless using Max. I then transcoded those Apple Lossless files with iTunes to guarantee problem-free streaming with AirPort Express and gapless playback. I still keep the original FLAC archive backed up on a couple of drives, but never play them except on my Karma.
For further reading, see flac + itunes and take the time to submit feedback to Apple. I sure did.
