Yea its totally worth it to go to the main store in Mong Kok. IEMs and headphones literally hang from the wall (and fill up the entire sides of the place

).

nsx_23: thats not really fair comparing the sf5pros with the UM1

they're at entirely different tiers and price points.

Fenschel: Don't know too much about the music genres you listed (sorry

) and depending on how much isolation you want, I'd recommend the C751's which sound really good. Sparkly highs with full bodied bass

Which i didn't buy because it was too expensive for me at the time (1100 HKD). But another shop sells the C700 (which is the same thing) for the low 900s. The shop's called AV2000 and is in 德發商場 in Mong Kok.

Hmm, right now my choices for auditioning are:
Westone UM1
Etymotic ER6
Denon C751
UE super.fi 3 Studio
UE super.fi 5 Pro //more as a reference than for serious buying

If I really like the SF3, I might get a pair of those custom tips for these.

EDIT: Anything else worth considering?

Mingo has a place in HK island? where?!

I listened to the UM1s and they are by far the most comfortable IEM I have tried. However, I thought the bass extension could be improved but it had nice vocals. I prefer the UM1 over the ER-6is.

I can't wait to try out the UM2 and Westone 3.

Shop 269 on second floor in Wanchai Computer Centre, 130 Hennessy Road, Wanchai.

There are loads of other stores that sell earphones as well, but they are the only ones who sell HP amps, LODs (albeit cheap ones), replacement tips, Grados etc.
And personally I don't trust the other shops..

Thanks.

Btw, I also tried the Denon C751 and C551 and I couldn't justify paying more for the 751s. If you're a bass head they both rock. C551 is better value for money.

Well it depends on how much treble energy you want, which I thought justified the price of the C700s (not the C751s thought). It really depends on what sound signature you want. Though the C551s would be the cheapest of the bunch and will sound decent (can hold its own against the others) if the sound sig is right for you.

Put it this way, comparing the 2 tells you where the extra money goes towards. I started this hobby with Shure E2Cs, and could clearly tell why the SF5pro costs much more.

I think its probably better to save the extra money and jump straight to the Sf5pros.

Sorry, haven't been online lately, was busy.. so what exactly is the difference between c700 and c751?

No difference, except that the C751 has an extension cable and a case while the C700 doesn't have either. So buying the C700 means your buying the C751, only cheaper.

Ok thanks guys. I'll tell you what I got when I've been to Mingo's. Might take a while though, since I'm very busy at the moment and I'll be on holiday for Christmas, but thanks anyway for the great advice!
