Hey guys. I was reading this article (http://www.smartplanet.com/blog/thinking-tech/-8216quietest-place-on-earth-causes-hallucinations/11153) and notcied the room was designed with wedges on both the wall, ceiling, and floor. What is it about wedges that allows them to minimize sound created in the room?

They don't soundproof the room from outside noises.  They reduce reflections inside the room.

wedges help with high frequency attenuation, there will always be some reflection from anything denser than air and the wedge angle will direct most of the "specular" reflection into the adjacent wedge instead of back out into the room
 
there is also a "impedance matching" effect for intermediate frequencies with wavelengths shorter than a few times the wedge depth
