...but the tickets cost 100+ dollars!

Since when did concerts get so expensive?!

The last concert I went to, last year, was a Kiss + Aerosmith tour, but the tickets cost me 40 or someodd dollars each. My Todd Rundgren show I'm catching was even cheaper than that!

What happened here? Are The Mars Volta really in such high demand? Are ALL concerts like this now-a-days?

I have tickets to see TMV at a fairly small venue and they were only around $30 each.

I just looked it up -- their concert in Worcester, MA (Boston is sold out) is only $24.50. Where are you getting $100 from?

If you were planning on going to the show alone, I'd recommend going without buying a ticket beforehand. You can usually get a great single seat at the door. There's always a handful of tickets that are released the day of the show and you could end up with a floor seat for $30. I used this method when I went to see Rush last summer at GreatWoods/The Tweeter Center. I got a 17th row, center seat, and I bought my ticket 2 short hours before the start of the show. Note that its alomost impossible to get two seats togther this way.

Uh... the tickets weren't $100+. They were $25. They were being scalped for over 100 dollars.

If you're unable to see the important difference here, then you're probably going to be forever condemned to buying tickets for extremely-bloated resale prices.

Yeah, I think that's the thing you might be missing. Resale tickets for The Mars Volta concerts have been more than a hundred for awhile (since summer 2003at least) now, or so I understand.

I am seeing them on June third. It should be awesome. Luckily my friend got the presale code, so I could get them before they were close to being sold out.
