I've read that one. I think the chip is definitely meant for audio, that's why I don't get the stuff from the datasheet.

aos, that was it, the input level was too high. I guess my default volume is much more than a typical line out

Thanks for the help aos and Apheared. I feel much better about it now after rewiring a new IC, wires are neat and voltage regulator is also fit properly on the same board as the IC with a heatsink.

Just have to find some ferrite beads now
