This is the perfect working music for me. Upbeat and great stylish classic vocals from the Jazz pioneers.

Ella never sounded better!

I am!

After listening to Billy Holiday's Speak Low remixed by Bent in a Starbucks a few days ago, I decided to buy The Complete Verve Remixed Deluxe Box. So far I love it! Of course, as it always happens with compilations by various artists, there are very different styles and some tracks are simply not my thing, but for the most part I really like the combination of elegant electronic sounds and the magic voices of singers like Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone...

I vol. 1 and 3 (not sure on numbers atm) plus their respective unmixed versions. Funnily enough I run back to the unmixed almost everytime.

I'm a fan. I have #3 and I love these remixes. I honeslty don't like the original versions of those songs (just not my thing) but these remixes are great. Speak Low -Billy Holiday is my favorite on #3. I plan to pick up the others as well

I only heard one of these. I thought the remix of Strange Fruit was just about the most historically ignorant and culturally disrespectful thing I've ever heard. It was like the fella who did the slicing and dicing had no idea what he was listening to... just saying to himself "Lissen to this funny lady's voice!" That was enough for me.

See ya

Huge fan here!

Volume 3, however, I think is only good to very good, not outstanding like the previous two volumes.

On that note, Blue Note's try at "Blue Note Revisited" completely blows and so does the "Motown Remixed". Both have one or two nice songs, but otherwise they completely pale compared to the Verve efforts.

I know it's a little bit out of topic but I just heard this great cd with Nina's songs remixed by various artists pressed by Legacy. Unfortunately, Wild Is the Wind piece is not included on this album, too bad because it's a lovely song.

Oh well, Bowies version (Station to Station album) is really good if you want to hear a different take on it.
