V6's Vs. Technics DJ1200
Oct 2, 2001 at 9:18 PM Post #2 of 10
Most of the "DJ" headphones out there (new Sony's [like the V700's], Technics, IXOS, Pioneer, Stanton, etc.) Have boomy, overdone bass. Many have little bass extension or midrange. All marketed for DJ's have the necessary DJ features, for one-eared monitoring and such.

However, if you want something remotely versatile or remotely audiophile-quality, or that gives you a good idea of what your mix actually SOUNDS like, get the MDR-V6's. Sacraficing everything to have overbloated, boomy midbass doesn't help as much as you think it would for Beat Matching....

I haven't heard the V6/MDR7506 (hard to find here in Australia)

As for the Technics, some friends of mine have these... nothing special as far I as I see/hear. Technics also have a DJ1210... personally I think Technics have DJ headphones to complete their lineup

I agree with Steril- the HD25 is superb. But a bit expensive...

Except for the fact that the 25sp's are booooooommmmmyyyyyy.

And they're priced the same as the V6's, so, like, it'd be best to get the V6's. :p

Anyways, some "audiophile" dj headphones are the V6 (not v600), HD25 (not 25sp), and beyer dt250.

You are right, the 25SPs are quite boomy when they are still brand-new, but after several months of breaking-in the boomy bass would give in. I agree that they are not perfect, but still very good for the price. HD25s are indeed better, but they are TOO GOD-DAMNED MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE to justify the buy.

Gluegun,

I used the currency changer (from Euro to Dollar) on Yahoo and the price was different on the 580's, it came out to 173.49. How did you convert the prices? I also used the currency converter on the site and got the same amount. Let me know, thanks!

George

ps. i also noticed hifi4less.com has auctions on ebay all the time with decent prices.
