Basically I'm trying to decide between these two headphones
My budget is 350$-400$
My primary use is listening to music on the computer, sometimes I take them to travel and trips without amplifier
I hear to: Hip Hop, Reggae, Rock, Funk, Country Music, Trance, Electronic and World music
Sound quality is important to me to be clear, exact and good
I'm not looking for a powerful bass, it should be pleasant to the ear, but if there is a quality bass, so why not
It is important to me that they would be comfortable on my head

Thank you so much for helping and sorry for the low English

Sound: The m100 priority?
Comfort?
Is the bass sound good? or is discordant?
I think I need a bass because of the types of music I listen to
Just important to me that it will be pleasant to the ear

Do you have big ears? I do and I found M-100s uncomfortable after wearing them for an hour. I even bought the XL pads. I guess they helped a little, but it was not enough.

For portable use these are pretty good though. They are durable, fold up nicely and work just as fine without an amp.

No, my ears are small
It is important to me that they would be comfortable, portable is less important to me
More important for me to be comfortable on your head
It is also important sound quality, sound accuracy, balance bass..

are you sure you want something balanced? Have you heard any monitoring headphone?
If not, definitely demo one before you decide on a sound signature.

I think M50x have a more balanced sound than V-Moda M-100. Many people are of the opinion that M50x is the best portable headphone under 200$. You can also check this topic which is almost the same with yours: http://www.head-fi.org/t/713331/audio-technica-ath-m50x-vs-vmoda-m100

The M50x fits your description and you won't regret it. They have some isolation, but they do leak some sound.

The M-100 is has some bass emphasis, but they do sound quite clear and they are accurate. They have better isolation and look nicer too.

In terms of sound:

M50x - balanced sound, clear, no emphasis on any range.
M-100 - accurate, clear, fun, with emphasis on bass

Both of them have limited soundstage being closed.

If you are going to listen to music/movies - i'd get the M50x
If you want to play games as well on your favourite can - M-100 with the Boompro mic looks a bit more versatile.

It is also important sound quality, sound accuracy, balance bass..

If you go for the M100s, you will need to get the XL memory cushion pads. Now comfort is very individual, but I had severe comfort issues with the M100s without the XL earpads. They sound great, but yes, they are heavier on the bass compared to other 'audiophile' headphones. Sounds nice and great sound quality, but definitely a v-shaped sound signature.

The M50x also technically has a v-shaped sound signature, but bass is not as extreme as the M100s. From my personal experience, I found noise isolation better on the M50x as the M100s has vents that leak sound. Both have great sound quality, just slightly different sound signatures. From memory, I think the M50x would be a tad bit more neutral than the M100s, but never direct compared, so hard to say.

Other considerations would be style, build quality, and price. Pricewise, the M50x was around $120ish at buysonic recently. If you wait around a bit, I'm sure the deal will come back up. Just e-mail them to let you know. Note buysonic is a flash sale site, so no refunds. The M100s were recently discounted to $260ish but I think their price went back up. Build quality the M100s are built like tank and can probably survive some pretty heavy abuse if that is important to you. Both headphones fold up.

Keep in mind that there are a TON of amazing options in the sub-$300 closed portable range beyond the M50x and M100. The Sony MDR-1R (or new MDR-1RA), Sennheiser Momentum Over-Ears, NAD HP50, the AKG K545... etc...

Whether or not it has enough bass depends on your taste.
Balanced and accurate are used almost synonymously around here.

Whether or not it has enough bass depends on your taste.
Balanced and accurate are used almost synonymously around here.

So headphones that are bass heavy can still be accurate... they just won't be balanced in terms of their frequency response curve.

It really just a personal preference thing. many people like a bass-boost and many people like a more flat sound signature.

I believe that the M100 have a +5-7dB bass boost. The thing with this hobby is that you need to listen to some headphones yourself first, so you have a reference point. There is no amount of written description that can someone here can write to let you know what you would like and what you won't like. You need to try out a few headphones and then you can use those as reference points.

Good luck & I hope you find what you are looking for
