I'm trying to setup my DAC (Hifimediy sabre) to my PS3 using USB, but it doesn't seem to work. Has anyone tried this before?

I'm going to make a wild guess that the Sony PS3 does not have the drivers to recognize and use a Sabre chipped USB DAC.

I guess not, the PS3 does have an optical output. I think I need a an optical to USB cable, if it actually exists. How come there aren't any?

I'm guessing the guys at Sabre would have to pay Sony a fee to be able to have their Sabre chips work with the PS3 (or PS4).
And i'm guessing it's not worth paying a fee for something very few people would buy, for use with a PS3/PS4.
Most people would get a Astro-Mix-amp, for use with their gaming console.

I only play on occasion so I don't think its worth it to get a MixAmp. If only Sony could make an update that allows the PS3 to support any DAC, that would be awesome.
Anyway, thanks for the help.

And if anyone else has any suggestions please chime in.

Aww... My dreams are broken of using a quality DAC on my ps3. Oh well. I'll have to make a gaming computer then.
