What would be the good, inexpensive (under $100) options for a DAC/AMP combo that don't require an external power supply and can just feed off the USB connector? I'm looking to drive Blon-03 and Blon 07 IEMs, so I don't need loads of power, just a nice, clean sound.

Thanks

PS. The Amp/DAC will be running off a laptop, which will most likely be plugged in, so there shouldn't be a USB power limit like you'd have with a phone.

A Sound blaster G6 in direct mode and volume at -2db (85 percent) will get you terrific sound for $100 just on USB power. I just had a Schiit Fulla 2 for a day and it was the same power and no software or drivers needed. The Fulla 2 powered the HE4XX to volume levels I wouldn't feel safe listening at all day, so it'll handle a lot of models out there. The Schiit is built like a tank with no plastic, but the G6 has a ton of software options for gaming surround, etc.

Schiit Fulla E
Runs great from a laptop USB port alone (listening as I type this), has an optical input and sounds great. I love mine and just ordered a second for a different computer. $109.

I'm not in the States, so any Schiit product falls by the way side since the shipping costs would put it close to $200 or at least $150

How do they compare to let's say iBasso? Are they all pretty much the same with respect to the sound and it's just a matter of getting the right features?

The FiiO E10K is an old design (older DAC chip).
I would think(?) the FiiO KA3 and iBasso DC05 are roughly equal.

Picked up the FiiO E10k TC. It's perfect for my needs. Thank you.

The iFi iDSD (nano, micro, diablo) runs on USB power.
