So I'm looking to buy a new DAP. Currently I'm using the Fiio X5 (1st gen), which was my first venture into the audiophile universe. After looking around, I've "narrowed" my search down to the Onkyo DP-X1, Fiio X7, Pioneer XDP-100R, Astell & Kern AK120, and Astell & Kern AK Jr.
I purely utilize playlists, large ones. My playlists range from ~200-1000 songs, and they're organized by genres. Currently using MediaMonkey to sort and sync my music. My main listening sources are the ATH-PRO700MK2, Sennheiser PC360, and my car audio--which is tuned specifically for sound quality (next upgrade will be better full-sized cans). I listen to a wide variety of genres, electronic, rock, metal, indie, hip-hop, and some classical.
What I'm looking for:
- Under $800
- Large storage (via internal or external storage)
- Easily able to sync music with large playlists (good tagging system)
- Decent battery length
- Touch screen
- Fast User-interface
- Universal sound design/quality for numerous genres
