I am looking to upgrade to a over ear or iem, search for emphasis intimate stage and magical MID
Budget up to $ 400

In addition, i am considering purchasing an amplifier / dac - the SMSL Raw-MDA1 - i think its good value

I've got the Thieaudio Ghost and they are really great for vocals, much better price than the Sennheiser HD6 series too.
The Truthear Zero Blue IEM has amazing vocals, can't go wrong with them. Unless you need the connectivity, the SMSL DL100 is a great value. I liked the smaller form factor than the DL200 and no tick sound changing bit rates on the DL100. Could literally get them all in budget.

I personally vastly prefer the sundara over the HD6XX, they sound almost boxy to me due to the lacking treble and sub bass.

I would not say that the HD6XX is an upgrade by any stretch.
