Hi there, I hope you're all well!

I Am looking to upgrade from my Sennheiser HD595's. I've had them for about ten years now and I have really enjoyed them. I'm looking at something which is similar to the HD595's, but better. I Use them mostly of listening to classical, acoustic vocals etc. Though they are fairly versatile. I Have another set (Meze 99 classics) which I use for Pop/Rock and those kinds of things.

I Like:

The soundstage, neutrality, instrument separation, detail. These are the things I would like to be even better!

I Dislike:

Not much, sometimes there's a bit of a veil (but that improves substantially when they are properly driven). The bass could be a bit more: Don' get me wrong, I'm not a bass head at all and I hate bass-heavy headphones, but sometimes the 595's are a bit too bass/sub-bass light.

I'm currently looking at the HD6xx and ATH-R70X. I Have also heard that I should consider planars, but I don't know which... Something like the HD-800 or LCD-2 is a but above my budget.

Any recommendations?

(I Drive them with a ADL X1 DAC/Amp, but I can get a stronger amp easily enough used).

Thanks in advance!

The R70X gets my vote, or the Sundara.

Is $640 for something like the GoldPlanar GL2000 above budget?

Thanks for the reply!

I'm in South-Africa and hoping to buy used. Our market is very limited, I mentioned the 6xx because they show up from time and there is a R70x for sale at a reasonable price at the moment. But I'll keep an eye out for the GL2000, haven't really heard of it before.

Regards
