I have owned the Ultrasone Proline 2500 for a few months but finally decided to sell them as I found them too bright and "metallic". I also bought the Ultrasone Edition 9 but found the leather pads extremely uncomfortable so I sold them. I had given up on Ultrasone, until I read Jan Meier's comments on the Ultrasone Proline 650 on his website, and decided to give them a try. I was also eager to try a closed headphone. I mostly listen to K1000 and HD650.

The proline 650 was a very pleasant suprise. I can only confirm Jan's comments : "natural sonic balance and tight bass". They are not as refined as the HD650, but are much more pleasant than the brighter 2500. I do not know why the proline 650 get very little credit here on head-fi.

Thanks Jan !

I like them as well.

. I would have liked them a bit more comfortable and they aren't as detailed as my HD650, but I love the placement of the drivers.

The proline 650 is quite nice. It has a unique sound and has a lot of detail. The 2500 is brighter you say? I was thinking about getting a 2500 but bright and my ears don't mix.

I actually sold my PL650 to goto the 2500. I felt that the bass on the PL650 was too un-controlled and a bit boomy. I actually like the upper end of the 2500 more than the 650 also. They are defiantly not as laid back as the Senn HD650, but metallic is what they sound like when they are not broken in well. They smooth out after break in quite a bit.

You can't really direct compare them to the HD650 because you go from one extreme to the other. (Laid Back to Lively)
