Hi,
I've owned the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 pro for 3 months now and am really disappointed:
After getting a bit looser and looser over the past weeks, the cable finally detached itself from the left earphone when I tried to fit it into my ear. At first I wasn't alarmed because I've read that the cables are supposed to be detachable and replaceable. But when I fitted the cable back on the earphone, it was dead! No sound at all! And seeing how the connection between cable and earphone is constructed, I really fail to see how it is ever going to work again - there are just two bare pieces of wire sticking out from the cable connector that can fit inside the earphone connector, but it doesn't seem to work. And after several efforts to try to fit the two pieces together again, the connection is now so loose that the two pieces will disassemble at the slightest pull on the cable.

What? Dead after only 3 months of sparing use, and UE probably won't even honor their warranty because it looks as if I've broken it. Really great!

Any suggestions on how I can solve this problem or convince UE that it was not my fault?

UE will replace it for you, I am almost positive. I stepped on one of my drivers and cracked the enclosure by the cable, which caused the plug in the driver end to rip out. I sent it to them and they sent a new one back quickly. Have some faith, UE is known for its great customer service.

UE does have great customer service. I broke the little metal form wire inside my cable once, they sent me a new cable within 2 days, no cost. Great company, awsome IEM's

I too can attest to UE's great customer service. I purchased the SF5 pro about a year and a half ago, and just two weeks past when the cable died I was able to get a replacement cable from them with no hassle and no charge. So try getting in touch with them to see what they can do, and I'm sure that it will work out well.

OK, OK, I believe all of you that UE's customer service will solve this for me

But I really want to avoid to have the same problem again in the future, so is there any description/tutorial how to deal with the UE Sf5's cable? Can anyone describe how you detach the cable from the earphones without breaking it, or how to repair it if the cable detaches itself on its own? Thanks!

To detach the cable from the enclosure, I just grab the plug tightly and wiggle it from side to side while pulling.. If it breaks from that, you can't avoid it because you need a decent amount of force to get it to detach. It shouldn't do that so I think you either pulled it too hard/quickly or you got a weak pair. In both of my sets they detached with no problem.

If it detaches like its designed to do, it's as simple as just plugging it back in. There's no repairing involved at all.
