Hello,

I have owned a pair of UE 900 for the past couple of years and been satisfied with them. A few days ago I was trying to swap the wire and when i went to disconnect the left earbud from the wire, to my great dismay instead of disconnecting, the left cover (faceplate?) opened and the connector wire inside got torn!!!

Is this fixable?

Secondly i have been looking around in case i need to buy another pair and i have come across these Chinese multi BA driver Iem's offerings which are surprisingly cheap, i have read many reviews and still dont know what to make of them.

Question: in your opinion do any of these compete with the UE 900 as this is my only point of reference i am a bit lost.

Some of the references i have come across:
KZ AS10 5 BA
KZ ZSX Hybrid 5BA +1DD
KZ ZS10 Pro Hybrid 4BA+1DD

I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question.

Thanking you in advance.

Jay

Haven't heard the KZ IEMs mentioned, but the AS10 may warrant additional reading; it's supposedly a good value and sound signature isn't too far off form the UE 900. If you're absolutely in love with the UE 900/900s, you may want to consider getting them repaired/re-shelled into customs. ItsFit should be able to do it for $150. If you're not into customs they could also re-shell as a universal. Otherwise, you should have no trouble finding a new UE 900s for ~$150.

Thank you for your responses

if i get them reshelled will the sound be modified?

I am open to trying something else what would you suggest that is better then the UE 900 around this price point?
