Don't need more speakers but picked these up used at Audiogon for @$1k. These are sold new factory direct $1825, the parts alone would cost close to $800 and are seen in 5K+ brand name models.

Here is pic, I have the rosewood veneer finish:
Taylo

Using with HSU VTF3 sub, previously had PSB Stratus Minis in this set-up which sounded great..........but wanted to see what would happen if I pushed the envelope.

The looks of the Taylo certainly are a step up from PSB, now back to listening.................anyone tried these or considered getting them?

Looks like a Seas Excel series woofer - not sure about the tweeter, could be Seas or Vifa from the looks. Anyway - it looks like fine ingredients...

-7" Seas Magnesium cone mid/bass driver
-1" Scanspeak Revelator textile dome tweeter

1.5" thick MDF cabinet walls! (weigh 32lbs each)

This is tall monitor at 18" and my 24" stands are a bit too tall overall combined with Taylo.............will have to look for 20-21" stand.

Those are killer drivers, you can't go wrong this way, as you say the parts alone will cost you that much....

DarkAngel: Aha - so it's a Scanspeak (I always seem to forget them...

). Anyway, it's easy to confuse these Scandinavian tweeters, as they all look very much alike - and all are good as well.

DarkAngel, I was considering those speakers at one time. They are made in Owensboro, KY around 3 hrs from where I live. Tyler is a really nice guy, have talked to him on the phone several times and he'll shoot out an e-mail response really fast. I had a set of their lower line speakers - a 6 piece HT setup that cost $1.5K from the factory. A pair of the monitors + a Bottlehead Paramour/Melos SHA-1 as preamp sounded pretty good. They stopped making these because they weren't making enough money. Did you get the matching stands? The stands are very nicely made. I'd be interesting in putting the ProAc Response 2 to a shootout w/ the Tyler Acoustics Ref. Monitors - physical measurements are nearly identical. The Tyler Refs have more expensive drivers though.

I exchanged a few e-mails with Tyler, he is indeed a nice guy. Very responsive and does not hesitate to answer questions. In the end, I couldn't pony up that kind of cash so I went with the Von Schweikerts.

I think those will eat the psb's DA.

I was considering those for the longest time. They would have been a supposed upgrade for aci saphire IIIs I had, and Im willing to bet they actually would have been!

Enjoy those speakers! A Tyler or aci quake sub might be in order.
I know the hsu subs get high marks, but I know the aci subs are excellent for music(they are actually TOO tight for home theater) and they might be better suited for a purley musical performance.

k.s.

You can find them used at Audiogon for $1,000 or less is you are patient..........other wise factory direct $1825 for new.

Still breaking in and evaluating sound..............the Scanspeak textile dome tweeter is much smoother/sweeter than any previous speaker I have owned, finding right cable combo to match this character. If I keep same cables in place that sound right with PSB Stratus Minis, the Taylos sound a bit too smooth & relaxed............PSB metal tweeter vs Taylo Scanspeak tweeter.

Also ordered heavy duty 20" stand.

If the new Von Schweikert Monitors were bi-wire capable I may have tried used pair of these.
