Since I've gotten two sets of headphones to try out, DT990 Pro and Philips X1's, I've been using them hooked up to the head phone jack on the RF transmitter or base station of the X41's for my XBox 360. One thing I'm not sure of is that outputting stereo only? I haven't had time to mess with a bunch of different testing so I thought I'd ask before for a quick answer. I've been playing mostly RPG type games so the audio position isn't important. I am though going to start playing on my XBox One more now and was thinking of getting an Astro Mix Amp so I can have the chat function. Thought that if the X41 gave off surround sound through the head phone out jack, I could save myself some money.
The set up for the XBox One is HDMI to my Vizio TV which passes Dolby to my Vizio Soundbar via an optical cable. My sound bar does have a head phone jack out, so I could use that and a clip on mic to the hand held controller, but again wasn't sure if that outputs surround sound.
