HI All,
We will be showing a high end lineup at RMAF next week featuring Apex HiFi Audio and Meridian products.
We will be bringing our usual suspects - the Pinnacle and Teton as well as a new yet to be named Apex amp. More on that one later.
Meridian will also be joining us in our booth and showing their fine high end products including the Prime headphone amp and power supply. The 808 v5, 818v3 and Control 15 will be our sources as well as a couple of laptops feeding Meridian Direct DACs.
We will be selling the Meridian Explorer for the super low sales price of $149.95 as a show special. Pick yours up at RMAF or have us ship one to you after the show. Supplies are limited so get one asap.
We will be having our beer social on Saturday night in the CanJam room along with the CanJam beer social. Come by our booth and say high and have a cold one on us. We once again will be featuring some of the best brew Montana has to offer.
And now more about the new amp...
The new Apex HiFi "P2X" - a code name that will be replaced with the best name chosen by YOU at RMAF - is an all-new tube hybrid design preamp and headphone amp. Help us pick the winning name and you will win the very first production "P2X"!
Instead of a stepped attenuator or volume control pot, the P2X uses a digitally controlled attenuator using relays and fixed resistors. This volume control gives nearly perfect attenuation and channel tracking, with 1dB steps, down to -63dB.
Three inputs are provided, with two sets on RCA connectors at the back and one a 1/8" jack on the front (to connect a phone or music player). In addition to the headphone jack on the front, RCA outputs on the back provide a preamp output to drive powered speakers or a full stereo system.
All functions of the P2X can be accessed with a single control knob on the front of the enclosure, or by an infrared remote control (included). Multicolored LEDs on the front of the P2X indicate the volume setting, and by their color, the active input.
The P2X can use many different tubes. The standard tube is a JJ Electronic ECC802S. Other tubes that work include any type of 12AU7 or ECC82, 5814, 6211, 5963, 6680, 7057, and 12BH7 tubes.
Power
The P2X is powered by the dedicated Apex PS40 power supply. Your P2X is shipped with the power supply, and a cable to connect the two. Simply plug one end of the cable into the PS40, and the other into the P2X. Then, connect a standard IEC power cable from the inlet on the PS40, and plug it into an outlet. The PS40 automatically works from 85-265VAC, 50 or 60Hz.
1. Submit your suggested name on the Head-Fi website. One name per person, please.
Help us name it here... http://www.head-fi.org/t/736736/a-new-apex-product-name-it-here
2. It is suggested that in keeping with other Apex HiFi products, the name be a term related to topography, geology, or geography. Place names are OK, as are names in a language other them English.
3. In the event that the winning name is submitted by more than one person, the first person to submit it will win.
4. The winner will be chosen by Todd and Pete, and announced Saturday night in the CanJam room at RMAF. You need not be present to win...
