The first batches of the L30 had no ESD and DC protection and some folks who lived in drier/colder climates had electrostatic discharge damage their IEMs/headphones when they touched it. I had one of the older batches, but I live in a humid climate and never had this issue.
FWIW Topping did a mass recall and replaced at no cost a new Topping L30 around the January period with built in protection. They say the L30's sold as of January 2021 are safe.
You can check by the first 4 digits of the serial number which batch is yours. Anyways it is best you ask Topping directly for the percentage and stuff as this is insider info which I think most of us won't know.
And perhaps you can read that thread to find out the exact circumstances where the ESD occurs in some of the users who experienced it.
