Anybody finding that 192khz FLAC songs struggle to stream cleanly on Windows and Apple desktop apps without glitching and buffering ?

No such issue off Android DAPs, iPad or iPhone on the same wifi sitting at the same desk right beside the laptop. Speedtest indicates near 200 Mbps download so no lack of internet speed for audio files.

WHY IS TIDAL ASKING FOR ACCESS TO MY CAMERA???

I am using the desktop app (2.36.2.54) on a Win 11 PC.

Norton advised me that Tidal was asking for access to my camera, which I promptly denied in my Windows settings.

Now the Tidal app stops every now and then for no apparent reason. I have to hit "next" to get it playing again.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

I got a prompt response from Tidal Support:

Hi Peter,

Thank you for contacting TIDAL Support.

We appreciate that you are letting us know about this situation.

Regarding the inquiry about the camera, TIDAL requests "media" access to be able to control the output device so you can set "Exclusive Mode" but it does not connect to the camera on the app.

Regarding the what you mention about the TIDAL stopping, can you please try the next steps?

  1. Log out and log in.
  2. Clear Cache:
    1. Click on "Help" in the menu while TIDAL is open.
    2. Click on "Troubleshooting."
    3. Click on "Clear Cache."
  3. Reset app data:
    1. Click on "Help" in the menu while TIDAL is open.
    2. Click on "Troubleshooting."
    3. Click on "Reset app data."
  4. Uninstall and reinstall.**

That is very generic but it could be right...It depends on how your OS manages ''media''...from what I understand they are aware of the situation so I would run a full virus and malware scan and then leave it to rest.

I just noticed that Tidal is already allowing the high resolution tracks to pass through third party UPnP systems. This is excellent news for those that are not able to use Tidal Connect.

Here, using mConnect and Moode Audio on a raspberry pi, USB to a SMSL m500
