In a word fantastic. I went to a store here in PHILA and for 90.00 bought a new pair of EQUATION AUDIO RP-21. Out of the box they sound just great. I never thought for 90.00 I could get this much sound for so little money. I mean 50 mm drivers and great comfort. Just amazing.

So you're a fan of their comfort. That's...comforting.

Others have not been so fortunate on that count, but it's good to hear they work for some folks. I'm hoping to find out for myself some day.

My thoughts exactly. I was amazed at how it sounded right out of the box, I wasn't able to audition these phones before buying them. I'm not a bass head but I thought these phones could use more bass at first but after some burn in, they're just right.

I want to get a pair of these... I was asking and someone PM'd me and then they just decided to never write me back. LOL I guess they decided they were too good to let go of! (I'm still looking by the way

lol well they you go, i just made a comment in another RP21 thread that im not a basshead and out of the box i found them a bit bass shy. Good to know that burn-in will improve that.

I also find these pretty comfortable, though its the only closed phones ive ever had. Id rather wear these than the mylar x3s i got though these are pretty bulky to wear out and about..

I have been listening to these RP-21 for 6 hours now. I haven't heard highs like this since my 325is. This might be the best bass I have ever heard in a headphone. I am using my stereo receiver amp. I would like to listen to a movie I recorded last night but just cant stop listening to music. PINK FLOYD. Just a Hugh sound.

Love the sound, but they were not comfortable enough with the stock pads for me. OK, but not great. With Beyer pads though, VERY comfortable.

HI: How are you? Can you post the part # of the beyer pads and a link would be great. Thank you.
How do you get the pads off? I get them to turn but not come off.

Sorry for a bit of thread OT, but sky, how would you rate these, as far as comfort level compared to say your DT770 (old or new) These are quite interesting cans, especially at their price point.

EDT 770 V Ear pads, velours . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Order # 926.660

Edit: B&H had them listed here but it says discontinued. But I have since learnt from another thread, that there was a bit of an error on the part of the stock person, who thought it was removed from the Beyer catalog, but in fact they just shifted to a different catalog. You could probably shoot them an email and find out if they have/stock them. FYI, I bought the pleather equivalent from them for 17.50 + ~4 bucks priority shipping, they ship fast.

I'm using the leather pads that you can only get from the Beyer Manufacture site when you order custom cans. But some people have used the Pleather pads and reported they sound good as well. Those you can get from Beyer USA, not sure of the part number though. The RP21's pads come off very easily, just gently pull.

With the stock pads they are NOWHERE NEAR as comfortable as a the DT770, or the Denon D2000. They aren't awful, since they are circumaural, but the pads are pretty flat, and the headphones do clamp some. I wouldn't have kept them if the stock pads were all that was available, but I am REALLY into comfort

whether the dt770 pro/80 is better than the equation rp21 is debatable. And i say that as a beyer fan. It really depends what you're into. The rp-21 is more detailed with tighter bass for sure.

Of course it's debatable whether the DT770's SOUND better, I agree. But we were talking here only about comfort level, and I do not think it's debatable that the DT770 is more COMFORTABLE. Here there is a very clear winner. Unless you use Beyer pads with the RP21
