A new vocal specialist arrived at my house via DHL. Funny how if they want to get me an IEM fast they truly can. The new Kiwi ears CANTA is on the brighter side of the street. Though I can still listen to it with regular cables and DAPs. It is just I hope you would know what bright lights and city scapes you're driving into with this section of town? Yep, a forward vocal stance that just won't let go. Still with my best vocal music it is bright but still smooth, if that makes sense? Where sure what guarantees success here is the big......no huge DD bass.......a style of up-front vocal presence here would maybe not work with a BA low-end. For $89.00 it is both a rewarding listen and holding the most forward vocals of the year here at Redcarmoose Labs.
1 DD and 2 Planar drivers pretty much do their job to create this big, no huge upper-midrange. And remember it isn't just vocals that get the boost here, but anything in the upper-midrange gets force-fed a boost and an imaging out to the sides, forward (as you would expect) yet also up and down in the stage and forward and back........meaning while the vocals are big, stuff like cymbals go the route too. Finding imaging life at the outskirts of the broadest stage of maybe the year, here at Redcarmoose Labs.......it is insane, though I'm pretty sure not for every bear. Yet still fun, I imagine a few people getting them and loving them, never hearing vocals so defined and alive, while others that maybe don't know what bright lights and super fast transients could be positioned (in an IEM) for this little of money. Though some may bite-off maybe more than they can chew? But the more I listen the more I understand and relate with these fireworks afloat..........just that stage technicalities and tone can work together to promote bigness, and I have never in my life heard Planar upper midrange so big honestly......it is frankly huge?
The DD bass in still authoritative, yet due to the competition at hand is still slightly sequestered to slightly behind the mix.........I mean how could it not. So what happens is a kind of bright V as the bass is also in no way flat or anything like that. Yet it is the pinna gain gaining attention even over the more than adequate treble instillations. This brings us to the question of what music these would be good for? Depending what you are after..........even regular music, whatever you listen to, though stuff like Rock will hold the most detail you have ever heard in vocal ability at this price-point. Of course the CANTA has a forte and you can guess what style that is............to where there are details from the push that you never knew existed in the song, vocals literally come to life!
Build is truly great as you have a medium small IEM with a CNC aluminum faceplate, held onto a 3D resin build that just fits and feels marvelous! 2Pins go on with ease, and the nozzles are at the perfect length to where I can even use my wide-bore silicone ear-tips of choice!
