For a while now on the 0404 i've been using "Bass Tightener" on the patchmix for my 0404 to my grados. it just seemed to have more soundstage. I didn't always like the bass on certain tracks, but when i switched to a "pure" signal the soundstage collapsed, so i thought it was a product of the DSP.

Well i found out last night it was because of the panning. My bass tightener setting was set for a pan hard right and left, stretching out the Grado's narrow stage. I noticed on my "pure" signal setting that the panning was deactivated.

so now what i do is turn off all the EQ stuff like bass tightener, and the only thing i have running is the panning. oh yeah. the SR200 is back to sounding neutral, but now has the big old soundstage. it just makes tracks that need crossfeed sound even more hellish, but i'll just avoid the Beatles for now lol.

why didn't i think of this before.

pan those babies in, a bit more, a bit more, overlap em, and...CROSSFEED! well, either that or it's mono lol. but finally i can listen to my Beatles tunes with my cans without going crazy!

Yes the panning inward is good for really wide or dual mono tracks. But it's not really crossfeed in the sense that there's no delay to the other ear.

Glad to see you are using the extra features of a computer source

go to your output assignment, click the box on Mix (not monitor) and now your mixing board is activated - including the little pan dials! just turn the knobs left and right.
