Yah know what pisses me off? I tried Beyer DT770's (or maybe it was the DT990's) with a Supreme amp. Loved it. Beyers were nice. Buying them would have solved a lot of my headphone woes, with the Supreme. They both went back for various reasons.

But I loved the sound of the Beyers. But I HAVE A FATHEAD....YES....A FATHEAD....I AM A FATHEAD. The Beyers were too tight for my fat head. HD600's plenty of room. MDR7506 Sony's, plenty of room, even Senn HFD570's ok.
But the Beyers would just not have enough "length" in the headband.

Sigh.

I wiped my tears on the gentle velour of the Beyer pads......

Sorry, that wont work at all! The headband is simply too short, you can easily bend the cans outward with your hands, but then the earcups barely sit over your ears! It truely is annoying, thank god my head isn't as fat as fred's, but i have a pear shaped head which sucks with the beyers. I also have the Sony 7506's and the headband fits perfectly.

At least i'm glad to read someone else liked the beyer's

Fred, my fat-headed friend. Alas, I too have a capacious cranium. I want to try those 770s though (darn you Glocko!

)--have you ever tried the senn 280 pro? That one fits me fine with three notches to spare on each side of the adjustable headband--if the senn's are tight on you also, then perhaps it's a shape rather than a size problem, as implied by our pear-headed 770 fan Glocko. Lemme know--I have one hand on the phone to call in the order!

The headband easily flexes and because the cups have a decent swivel to them you can flex the band to fit even the most pumpkin-shaped of heads.

Just don't over-flex the cable or you'll find them too loose, I basically flexed mine out in the middle, and then down a little further along the arms to get rid of the vice-like grip.
Worked great

I've had similar problems with my 990's. Flexing the headband just didn't do it. But I found a easy solution to this problem:

Remove the padding in the headband. Just unbutton the headband. Cut a small slit in the headband (preferably on the side that don't face your head (duh!). And just yank that padding out of there! That sucker can be a bit hard to remove but it's worth the efort.

No more headache! (Unless you listen to crappy music)

Happy listening!

Well, thx to the input from Fred & others here, and the fathead factor, I chickened out on getting the 770 & instead ordered today the 250-80. I'll be interested to see (a) if it fits comfortably over larger than average ears; (b) if it is superior to my senn 280 pros. I also ordered a total airhead, & I am anxious to see whether I can notice any improvement with it over my airhead with the senns or the beyers. BTW, it seems to me that the power of suggestion from articulate headfiers can have a compelling and sometimes negative effect on one's perception of the quality of headphones (at least for impressionable me). As I read some of the negative comments on the 280s, it made me question whether I was enjoying them as much as I thought I was, & caused me to wonder if I was missing something. I wonder how much of this is truly a reflection on the headphones or merely a figment of my imagination. In other words, Magicthyse, I blame you for all the money I shelled out on these new phones!
